It's Been Awhile Huh....

Alright, so I haven't been posting often and I still owe you a podcast...and I am sure most have given up a hope to ever even hear that podcast. I don't blame you if you have, I'd get sick of waiting for me too.

The truth be told is I have suffered a terrible loss as of August 15th due to the passing of my baby brother, Michael Walter Evans, Jr., who was at the ripe young age of 21. I tried so terribly hard to complete a podcast for everyone in the month passing his death but I couldn't find the passion or confidence to give a show you deserve. Words honestly could not express the pain I have felt and the anger I bear internally. I don't want to make any excuses for my delay in keeping up with the music but in all honesty, I just haven't had the energy to entertain or inform my fellow brethrens in metal. I've had a terrible year of tragedy personally and finanically...and I haven't been able to channel it. In 2007, my brothers biological father was murdered...and my brother died on his biological fathers birthday...everything is just fucking painful and weird.

I do hope that I can provide the outlet you all deserve again...please just know its not that I don't want to...its just so god damn difficult to find the confidence in myself. I am terribly sorry for anyone I have let down. I will return again, when, I don't know.

the SECRET Reveal Their Secret

Well, if you have been living under a rock or just don't have good taste in metal...just kidding, there are so many damn bands out there I can't keep up myself...then you probably haven't heard of THE SECRET. The band released an album titled "Disintoxication" earlier this year which blew me away. Especially since I've been waiting for a new release from the band after "Luce" was released in 2004.

Anywho, I was browsing my Myspace bulletins and saw the band decided to not wait 4 years again to release new material. In fact, I have no idea what they plan to do with the songs; however, they are on their official Myspace page. The songs are entitled "No Title" and "Where It Ends". They do NOT disappoint.

Do all of you young adolescents out there remember that 80's movie BACK TO THE FUTURE? Well I sure do, I loved it actually. There were many memorable parts of the movie like the Flux Capacitor, Marty being hit on by his young mom, the classic car sliding sideways into a truck full of cow dookie, and the best scene with Marty rocking "Johnny B. Okay, so typically journalists shouldn't say what I am about to say...however, I have been waiting for to many years to be conservative about my response. So, I have to let you know I have the biggest raging metal nerd boner in history right now. I can't believe its finally happening.

"Yeah that is right I have been under a gag order on this one & now I have the go ahead...

SO I have been working on an Album with Adam D for well over a year now on and off. We hope to have it completed by the end of the year. This is an album that Adam wrote while lying in bed from a back injury! I am very pleased to say two of the forces behind Alive or Just breathing have come back together to bring you our new project "Days of Grace" I am also pleased to say we have the blessings of Killswitch Engage behind us so the energy is very positive.

You will hear my best vocals to date on this album, as Adam has pushed me to belt out stuff I did not know I had in me. There will be plenty of melodic vocals as well as a good amount of yelling & screaming. Adam takes lead vocals on a couple of these tracks and it is nothing less than Amazing!. KING DIAMOND Video Footage Performing With METALLICA

Now, typically, I don't write much or pay to much attention to METALLICA anymore because the band has just continually disappointed my expectations and hopes of sounding amazing. I still mean that because if you have heard the sound board recording of their new song "Cyanide" from their upcoming album "Death Magnetic" then you'll understand the new album is going to sound like shit. Twenty years to the day I have waited for an album like "...And Justice For All" to come out and I will never hear that day again.

With that being said, I just stumbled across a video of METALLICA performing at this years OZZFEST with none other than the legendary KING DIAMOND. I was blown away. The music was so amazing and King Diamond should make a deal with Satan to steal James Hetfield's voice so he can be a permanent front man of METALLICA. One can only dream of such...as well as the dream of Metallica studying KING DIAMOND music to produce such amazing guitar work. Only in our metal dreams. Anyways, here is the video with King Diamond:

DIVINE HERESY Announce New Vocalist With Audio

That folks is the new face of DIVINE HERESY. The drama has settled...TOMMY CUMMINGS has moved on to SNOT (unfortunately)...and DIVINE HERESY has replaced Mr. Cummings with a more prominent style. Personally, its a shame TRAVIS NEAL wasn't the face from the get go. He really adds some ass to the band which was lacking due to Mr. Cummings desire to sound like a washed up Howard Jones of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE. Although Travis Neal sounds more like PHIL ANSELMO he brings a level of screaming reminiscent to VITAL REMAINS at times with his highs. Check it out, they released a track with Travis' vocals on "Bleed The Filth" here. You be the judge.

The City of Metal

I apologize for the lack thereof metal blogs, there is good reason. I have actually relocated to the West Coast of Florida on the outskirts of a legendary metal city called Tampa. For those of you who don't know what that means, well, just know this is the city Death Metal was birthed....aka the Death Metal capital of the world. So sick.

In due time I'll contribute to this blog once again. I just need to find a job, the one I came out here with intentions of living off of fell through. Sucks. No worries though, things will work itself out.

New SLIPKNOT Video "Psychosocial"

Apparently, this new video from SLIPKNOT for the track "Psychosocial" debuted last night on MTV. I don't have cable so you'll see it as I did, Youtube. Not a bad video, not a bad song. The band has really come a very long way from their birth. Melody is always a good thing when performed with accuracy.



SLIPKNOT "All Hope Is Gone" will be released on August 26th through ROADRUNNER RECORDS.

Enough Already...THIS IS BLASPHEMY!!!

I have to honestly say, I was really looking forward to hearing the latest Kerrang! covers release especially given it was an all out IRON MAIDEN covers album entitled "Maiden Heaven". Not just any covers album, but covers by bands such as METALLICA, TRIVIUM, MACHINE HEAD, DEVILDRIVER, ....Coheed and Cambria....and more! So i was obviously excited to hear how these metal bands paid homage to the legendary IRON MAIDEN!!!

Well then this link was posted. Following my clicking of the audio clips. I wanted to search for the closest nail bed and do a belly flop onto it because the songs are terrible. The short snippets were so punishing to my curiosity I should have just searched for child porn, be tapped by the FBI, and locked up in a cell with a fat 10" dick swinging black man named Bubba.

THIS IS BLASPHEMY. Seriously. Kerrang! gathers the most egotistical self-loving bands to cover a metal legend and expected to come out with positive results. I too was fooled. For fuck sake, I feel like our current metal scene is on the ass end of the Nu-metal years.

Now, I would have loved to have heard bands like DRAGONLAND, STILL REMAINS, BEHEMOTH, DIMMU BORGIR, SCAR SYMMETRY, INTO ETERNITY, THE HAUNTED...all the bands that can actually hold a note and sing...Fuck. I mean, I know DREAM THEATER and MACHINE HEAD rule and did well, but FUCK!!!! Kerrang! did you forget about the cover OPETH did which destroys METALLICA's attempt?! Even if that one isn't available give them "Fear of the Dark" or something guys. Something better than what you are marketing.

Give credit where credit is due. Display bands who play with a passion and respect and not for a paycheck. This is an absolute disgusting tribute.

I stumbled upon a blog today after all of the recent announcements (which I will only talk about in this blog because I don't like it) of Tommy Cummings (Ex-Divine Heresey, Ex-Vext) fronting the resurrected nu-metal band SNOT. I won't say much about the following blog, I'll let it speak for itself...however, I will say, I sure hope it isn't what it seems man. If so, then you will be forever forgotten in my metal world.

But in other ANB news, it sounds like they will be FINALLY releasing some new material prior to the full length. A split with INSECT WAREFARE as well as with ENDLESS BLOCKADE are said to be completed. Although there is absolutely no date as to when, the word its going to be around the end of summer and/or early fall.

Remember GLASS CASKET? You Better Get To Know COLUMNS

So do you? I don't know how you wouldn't know of GLASS CASKET since a majority of current "metal fans" are fanboys (and girls no pun intended) of BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME; therefore you must know of their other projects. My assumption brings me to the relation of GLASS CASKET and COLUMNS. Columns is a band of death metallers of whom formed in 2004, may I add included more band line up changes in the last four years than DYING FETUS did in their career, and features vocalist Adam Cody. Who is he you ask? He's the voice of GLASS CASKET he is! One bad ass dude whom also joined the almighty VEHEMENCE for a few shows. I can't not tell you how great it is to hear his vocals being capitalized with such great metal. Its been far to long.

Pure death metal. Something I love to hear. Not the, "I'M BRUTAL COOKIE MONSTER WHO LOVES BREE GIMME AN APPLE SLICE" but the "I'M GONNA RIP YOUR FACE OFF AND USE IT AS A DISH TOWEL" death metal. The band has a demo posted on the page from 2006 as well as a new mix for their upcoming 2008 release. You must hear it. If you are fans of VEHEMENCE, COLDWORKER, and CATTLE DECAPITATION you will love this band. So, if you want to check out their two songs, head to this location. You will not be disappointed.

Soulja Boy Death Metal Style

I just stumbled across a video of a band named MIRROR FOR THE SKY covering the popular one hit wonder song titled "Soulja Boy". Honestly, it sounds pretty damn good. My only wish of improvement in this video was for the two little kids in the beginning of the video to be doing Erik Rutan style windmills.

CONDEMN THE INFECTED Will Infect You

I often look through Myspace for bands in which to latch my metal desires to and believe me, there are a lot of bands out there and its not often you can find a band (especially at a young age) in which can impress me. I have found a band, as I was deleting the shitty bands from my friendslist, called CONDEMN THE INFECTED. Wow. These guys don't look a day over 18...and to top it off they are from my home state of Maryland.

I'd say they are a hybrid of OPETH, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, DECAPITATED, SUFFOCATION, and ORIGIN. Check these guys out and add them. They are fucking sick.

New NORMA JEAN Has Singing?

So, NORMA JEAN have posted two new songs on their official Myspace Page and there is a lot of mixed feedback on one of the two songs. Thats typical given the utter fact, the band spawns from the idea of bending frequencies and implementing an unorthodox rhythmic drum patter while screaming like an emo kid with a paper cut on his pecker. Now, I like Noisecore but in all honesty Norma Jean sucked at it. Seriously, I saw them on the 2005 Sounds of the Underground tour and I wanted to grab the closest Emocore kid and ask them for the wrist cutting instructions I've seen all over the internet. It was horrible. I really lost all urges to listen to them ever again. Until now.

I read an article on some site talking about how shitty the band sounded now and how NORMA JEAN are the newest sellouts for acquiring a melodic vocal to their sound. So, of course, I had to check it out. And I FUCKING LOVED IT.

"Robots 3 Humans 0" and "Birth of The Anti-Mother" are structured and sound fucking good. There is so much Melody placed through out each song, it sounds like a completely different band. On the first song, "Robots 3 Humans 0" it sounds like they've been getting musical advice from HE IS LEGEND; it sold me. So then on to the next song, "Birth of The Anti-Mother"; its the edger of the two with hits of a mathy MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER and ION DISSONANCE. It sounds like a take off of their 2006 release "Redeemer". So fucking good. I am very much so looking forward to hearing the rest of the release. "The Anti-Mother" comes out August 5th through SOLID STATE RECORDS.

Make sure you check it out. Don't playa hate, fuck trends, be your self and like what you like...don't belittle just because its not brutal enough. Give it a chance, it may help you out some way.

LIGHT THIS CITY has dropped (thank fucking god I can not stand that band) and ABIGAIL WILLIAMS have been added to this summers THRASH AND BURN TOUR supporting acts such as DARKEST HOUR, MISERY SIGNALS, WINDS OF PLAGUE, ARSIS, SUICIDE SILENCE and many other bands too. I read MOTORHEAD will be on a date as well. Thats pretty sick if you ask me.

This whole tour is pretty much stacked. I'm for one glad to see ABIGAIL WILLIAMS added to the tour with all of the troubles and plagued history its awesome to see them brought to a newer audience. Welcome to "Horns Up 666". If thats to cheesey for you, then you know what you are just going to have to wait until I can get my own URL and funding. Anywho, let me get back to the point and re-introduce myself to those who know me and/or introduce myself to those who don't know me and my metal past.

My name is deadspout. I am a metal fan. This includes all genres involving Death Metal, Black Metal, Metalcore, Grind, Grindcore, Sludge, and all other genres in between. I found myself involved in a major metal movement in the wings of a popular site called METAL Injection. Those who know me will remember me in my http://www.metalinjection.net/ times, posting news, interviews, and 73 amazing podcasts under "The Dead Zone". My podcast had a total of 450,000 hits in the 3 year life span. I had a very successful run with METAL Injection and made some very dear friends in the metal world...fans and band members (whom most fans forget are actually fans of metal too).

I loved my time there but I did find myself really not liking the direction and the constrants put upon me when trying to branch further. I do not have any hard feelings with my metal brothers at METAL Injection, I just feel as though I became very bitter with all things metal because...well, I just wasn't able to have the creative input I felt could help. We'll just leave it at that.

So, here I am now with a new blog. I'll give you a run down of what I intend to do with this new blog. I have absolutely no contractual ties, no financial obligations, no bands assholes to stuff my nose into...I just want to be a fan and connect to my metal brothers and sisters out there. A little secrect I'll share with you is when I did my podcast, it was for this reason and this reason only:
